Help Corner!

Journal Entry: Sun May 2, 2010, 8:59 PM

Whether you're a beginner or a professional, every once in a while there's something you need help with. No one is exempt. We want to provide a space so you can find the help you need, and we know that there's some awesome people out there that love to help, so this is for you too!

How does this "Help Corner" work?

  • You have a problem or question related to polymer clay miniatures, polymer clay, techniques, tools, or the like.
  • You write your question and submit it to us through a semi-sweeties.deviantart.com/n… (note).
  • We publish your question in a blog for everybody to read.
  • Someone reads your question and answers it in the same blog entry.
  • After a few weeks or after you feel like your question has been answered, we will remove it from the blog entry and move it to a compendium of answered questions.

How can I submit a question?

Send us a semi-sweeties.deviantart.com/n… (note) with your question and once or twice a week we will publish a blog with the questions that haven't been answered yet. Write your question as best as you can, try to be clear and descriptive but concise, this will guarantee you get the help you seek for. If absolutely needed, you can add one thumbnail to your question.

There's no limit to how many questions you can ask, but be reasonable. If you want to submit your question as anonymous, please state it in your note. Otherwise, we will publish your name along the question for reference.

What can I ask for?

You can ask for tips, techniques, tutorials, tools, problems, etc. Whatever you want, darling! As long as it's a question related to polymer clay, it's welcomed!

Question examples:
  • I've been doing some fruit canes but the colors smear when I cut the slices. What can I do to avoid smearing?
  • I read that Fimo's Decorating Gel is better than TLS but I haven't tried it, is it worth buying?
  • I wanted to make a wood texture but couldn't achieve it. Are there any good tutorials around?
  • I hear people talking about this "tissue blades" but I don't know what they are! What are they and what are they for?
:cookie: Note: You can ask if someone knows if there's an specific tutorial, not request a tutorial. We may implement that in the future too, but not yet. You can't ask people to give you things either, that's just rude :XD:

How can I answer a question?

Just write your answer in the same blog entry, it's that easy! You could send a note to the person that asked the question, but we would really appreciate it if you could make your answer public. This way you help even more people!

It doesn't matter if someone already answered a question, you can give your own answer! A question may have multiple answers and you're free to give your own opinion. Having multiple ideas is beneficial too, so don't hesitate just because someone else already gave theirs.

What happens when someone already gave the answer I was looking for?

Let us know and we will remove your question from the blog entry :) then we will move the question and answer(s) to the compendium of answered questions. When we have enough of them, we may start some sort of Encyclopedia of Polymer Clay ;)

What happens if no one answers my question?

If no one answers it after a few weeks we will remove it from the list of questions. You're free to re-write it and submit it again, maybe it was difficult to understand or needed more explanation.

What do I get from answering questions?

You get our deepest gratitude and the rewarding sensation of helping someone else. If you believe in karma, I'm sure this is good karma for you too :)

We can't offer money or prizes for this, that wouldn't be practical. Don't forget that you're helping someone else now, but next time it could be you ;) who knows, you may even make some good friends from this :D
