Hi guys, 
I just bought some candy and thought it would be nice to give it away. It all comes from Bulk Barn Canada, everything is factory sealed but it might have come in contact with nuts, there's no way I can know that. Also I did buy some nuts at the same time but those are gone, just sayin'.
The candy bag will contain: chocolate loonies and toonies (yes that's what we call our 1 and 2 dollar coins), mini caramel chocolate bars, maple sugar candies, chocolate spiders and a dark cherry skull lollipop.

Monthly Food Challenge
It's a new year, so we're changing things up a little bit.
Starting in January, a three month premium membership* will be randomly drawn from the members that participate in the challenge.
This also means that we will be extra picky with those that do not follow the rules.
Theme of the month
The theme in this Valentine's month would be the ever dynamic and attractive treat: cupcakes
Your cupcakes can be in any flavors, any frosting and any toppings.
Make your work special with different decorations --- they can be a bitten cake or even a cup-cake pop!

THE CONTEST

Today we welcome the newest member of our team, *GrandmaThunderpants! We're happy to have her join the #semi-sweeties staff and we want you to share the happiness with us, and for that we're organizing a new contest! Since summer is the time for incredible movies, this time we want you to make food inspired by movies :la:

To make this time even more joyful, we're also going to throw a giveaway! To enter the giveaway all you have to do is fave this blog entry and you're automatically in! One week from now on August 8th we will randomly choose one winner that will receive 200 points :la: EDIT: The giveaway winner is ~xsuicidemakeover :dummy:

DEADLINE

The deadline for this contest is two months from today: October 1st

RULES

For this contest we want you to make food out of clay that is inspired by a movie or a group of movies. You can choose any movie from any year and represent it any way you want, be creative! Maybe you could make a Hobbit foot cake? Or a group of cookies after all your favorite movies? Or perhaps Hannibal Lecter's last meal. Whatever you want!

  • Participants must be members of #semi-sweeties

  • Participants must be legally adults (wherever they live) at the time of entering the contest, if not, they must have the permission of their parents/guardian/tutors to provide their address so the prizes can be sent.

  • Submissions must be entirely made by YOU! (No bought canes or molds!) Collaborations are also allowed, but only one prize will be sent.

  • The ENTRIES MUST BE made SPECIFICALLY for this contest starting on AUGUST 1st (no old or revised deviation and also, the entry cannot be submitted to another contest)!

  • The entry must clearly be food related, for example no trying to pass a figurine as a food-art cake! If our staff doesn't think that your submission looks like food, it will be rejected.

  • Your submission can consist of many photos stuck together to show closer details of your submission.

  • The maximum entry limit is 2 per member (but you can only win once).

  • Submit the entries into the "Movie Contest" folder instead of the "featured" folder.


    • Materials allowed
    • Entries must be entirely made of Clay (any type of clay is fine).

    • Oil paints, acrylic paints, pastels or other coloring mediums can be used.

    • Varnishes or glazes can be used.

    • Silicon, resin or acrylic are not allowed.

    • Props (plates, cutlery, tables, etc) can be bought/made from any other material.


    We absolutely need to see this in the comment section
    • You need to mention that your piece was made for the Movies Contest at #semi-sweeties, or the entry will not be considered.

    • In the comment section explain which movie or movies you were inspired by to make that entry.

    • You must post the stamp of this contest in the comment section, otherwise the submission won't be accepted.

We have to get the staff together and talk about the first and second places and a poll will need to be put up for third place. It could take up to two weeks for all of the results to get in. We evaluate each entry carefully :)
